As an entrepreneur you need a space to call your own…a place where the creative juices can flow freely and interruptions can be kept to a minimum.

Whether your space consists of a converted closet a spot under a stairway or an entire room within your home your work area should be a space to call your own. It really doesn’t matter whether you have a separate room that you can designate for conducting business. Even if you’re able to only manage a corner in your dining room to set up a desk or table and your computer then so be it. That’s your workspace.

If you are fortunate enough to have access to an entire room within your home then good for you! That’s even better! No matter where your space is stake your claim! It is your territory and other family members should recognize and respect your space and make it a point to keep out.

Once you have established your space then you have the funfilled chore of setting it up and organizing it to meet your needs. Always keep in mind the amount of space you have available. Carefully select the furniture and equipment that you MUST have in order to meet your needs.

Arrangement of the furniture and equipment is a very important part of organizing your office. Make sure you place each piece so that it is safe and within your reach for efficiently conducting business.

If you will be meeting with clients in this particular space create a professional and tasteful decor…possibly one that reflects the type of work you do. If you are a photographer fill the room with samples of your photography work. A wedding consultant may choose to create a more romantic look for her soontobe brides and grooms.

If the office won’t be used by customers or clients do your own thing! Occupying a room in the home with a door that can be closed behind you at the end of the day has a definite advantage over one which occupies a space in the corner of the family room. Why? One of the most difficult things that entrepreneurs find they are faced with is knowing when to say enough is enough and walk away. Having a door to close behind you may make it easier to walk away at the end of the day.

If you don’t that luxury in your workspace then you must force yourself to stop working at a certain time stick to your schedule and walk away. If you have to turn off the computer and put away all of your items that would tempt you to be drawn back to it. Make your work space as comfortable and familiar as possible as you will find yourself spending a great deal of time in that very area.

With smaller children it’s critical that your workspace be secured when you’re not around. Can you imagine what a curious toddler would do with a pile of your business papers and some pens?

Everyone’s idea of a perfect workspace differs from one to the other just as the type of work they are in. Therefore it’s up to the individual and the requirements of their specific occupation as to how much space is needed and in what part of the home works best..

With many it may even be a matter of trying out several places in the home before deciding on which one best meets your specific needs. Be creative and discover what personally works for you in establishing a workspace to call your own.

How about actually NOT MENTIONING the opportunity ? I know youthink I’ve gone mad but seriously. Go out there and find peoplewho have a need a want or a desire for your product. The other day I am getting ready to go on a family trip to a nearby lake. In an effort to get everything up to speed on our boat I was reminded of these two now famous clips were missing for our top. Now I have been trying to replace them before unsuccessfully about three times. Not that a dealer could not order it in but the fact that it would take 710 days and we would be gone by then usually deterred the ordering process. Needless to say my desire to have these clips was getting quite high and my frustration at the local dealer was quite high being that he could not for some reason order it. Personally I think it was a lack of effort on his part but everyone has a bad day so we will give him the benefit of the doubt. So for the third time in about two years I went back to the local dealer. Interestingly enough a new parts man was there so was the old one but I confidently tried the new guy. I explained the issue actually brought in one clip that I had left and what do you know but here is a whole bag of the clips! Must of been a hundred of them in my eyes actually on about 1012 but with my excitement and frustration over I said give me 6 of them and that will satisfy my desire.

His response to me lead me to this article he said “Don’t you want to know how much they cost?” I said “no 6 please.” He replied “most people want to know how much it is before they buy.” Now the banter went on in a jovial manner and he asked why I had not come in before etc. and I laughed it off and we were all happy after the transaction. But lets look at the issue of why money was not important to me and how this relates to quality.

The frustration I had over not finding these clips and not being able to order them locally was quite high granted a big part of the equation also the part was an exact replacement so it filled a definite need want and desire. So price did not matter as it really came down to the quality of the product.

Now you may know from reading other article that I am a business growth specialist mainly dealing with network marketers. My success in this business comes from delivering a high quality product to clients who are frustrated in growing their home based business. The reason I bring this up is that I find price to be of little issue to most of my students because of the quality of the product.
